Great work by Guelph Fire crews who responded to a reported bedroom fire in high rise apartment building on Westwood Road late this evening.

One resident located on a 5th floor balcony was rescued by firefighters using the elevated device on Aerial 4. The resident was treated for injuries on scene by Guelph Paramedics and transported to hospital. The fire was quickly extingished by fire personnel.

The cause of the fire and extent of the damage remains under investigation.
