Firefighter Leroy Bennett made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting his community. On September 20, 1975, Leroy became trapped at a structure fire and ran out of air. Leroy Bennett was Guelph’s first Line of Duty Death (LODD). Sadly, just over a month later on October 22, 1975, Guelph would mourn it’s second LODD in Brother Joe Lacey.
